HTTPS is a tool that web masters use to increase security and authority. In the past, the higher security conversion has cost people ranking status, causing one to wonder, even with search engine strategies in New York City, does HTTPS mean sacrificing your SEO progress and ranking?
HTTPS Search Engine Strategies in New York City
As a matter of fact, the technical answer is no. You don’t need to sacrifice your ranking, thanks to Google restructuring their algorithm to reward those who use https. However, the reward is small. In order to ensure that your website is not negatively affected by switching to https there are a few other factors you need to pay very close attention to.
It’s been said that in some cases https can cause your website to load slower. Since speed is a huge factor when it comes to ranking and SEO, you want to make sure that your new design is loading quickly. It may be that you have to sacrifice a few plugins or Flash data in order to maintain security and ranking simultaneously.
You will definitely see a negative impact if you make an error. There are many different things that need to be done when you switch your site over to https. Make sure that you’ve switched all elements of your site to https and not just the main pieces of your site. Make sure you don’t block URLs, or accidentally redirect people to the wrong you are at.
Google values unique data, so it’s a good idea in the beginning to redirect your HTTP URLs to your HTTPS new URL. Leaving this unattended could mean that people are trying to access a blank website.
It’s Still New
HTTPS is still new, and not every web application is yet prepared. You will find that certain elements of your investment in SEO are affected by switching to https. This is because there’s not as many compliant tools out there yet. While most representatives at Google make it clear that HTTPS is the way of the future, and will benefit you in the long run, there are still some tweaks to be made along the way. Expect a transition period.
In the future, you will probably want to explore HTTPS as an option for your site. Currently, if you are conducting any sort of transaction through your site you should definitely take a closer look. What do you think? Will you be switching to https anytime soon?
